So the issue of "dilution" is difficult to understand.
I'm not trying to argue or piss anyone off here - not my intent at all. I was sharing my thoughts and experience from another large forum I was on for years - for discussion purposes.
My comment of "dilution" meant that you will get people (this is just for example) that own C6 Z's commenting on a C4 thread with comments that either don't make sense pertaining to a C4 - or worse - wrong info that someone may try to use. Most forums you have to sort through 10 posts of garbage to find the one or two that are actually pertinent. THIS forum is not like that - and that is why it's great.
Once again - I am not totally against adding others - my caution is that it will require more moderators and more vigilance to keep the site clean and informational...

And as several of us can point out,we would have an analogous situation over at the Corvette Forum where its not only owners of other generation ZR Corvettes, but ALL generations of Corvette. We may get the occasional jerk mouthing off about how heavy the LT5 is, but overall we do a pretty good job of self-policing that abuse both there and on this forum.
Every year for the last 6 years, the FBI crowd has mixed it up with other generations of Corvette, especially C5 and C6, at the Crown Point Corvette Challenge. I am sure others would chime in, but that event has done quite a bit to gain the C4 ZR RESPECT among that crowd. Frankly, I believe an enthusiast or owner of some other generation ZR Corvette would be very favorably impressed about the C4 based on the knowledge and expertise on this board. With the information we have here, "the common wisdom" about our cars will change.

The discussion on this thread so far has been about the ZR-1 Net Registry Forum. There is a lot more to the Registry than just the Forum.

The Registry also includes:
Our website
Newsletter, "Heart of the Beast"
The annual Membership T-shirt
Merchandise we sell to members
The ZR-1 Gathering
The Registry presence at Corvettes at Carlisle
Our logo and branding (Some of which has to be registered with GM)
The banners we display

All of the parts of the ZR-1 Net Registry would be significantly changed if we turned the club into:

The ZR-1 (C4) and ZR1 (C6) and ??? (C8) Net Registry

Change in itself is not bad, but a change is after all a change and the ZR-1 Net Registry would not be the same after the change.

Recently the Board of Directors voted on and approved that a change to the Bylaws is required to implement a change in scope of the ZR-1 Net Registry to include support for other ZR1's. The Board recognized that there are already members who are ZR1 owners. The purpose of the Board's action was to ensure that any change in the scope of the Registry will be discussed and approved by the members using the formal Bylaws change procedure.

The gatherings would probably gain from such an expansion.
Not so sure about the merchandise, T-shirts and Newsletter though.

Are we thinking that by inviting other ZR1's the world will all of a sudden discover our cars?
I don't see how I benifit by talking about other than my very unique corvette engine.

Anyone who has participated in the Mountain Run events knows that the other year ZR1's drivers are very welcome. And there has been participation by non-ZR-1 C4's as well as a European ZR-1 owner driving a rental Mustang.

The Mountain Run is a ZR-1 Net Registry hosted event that does not cost the Registry anything and allows us to show off the ZR-1 to many other Corvette owners.

Highlighting the ZR-1/LT5 as well as other-generation ZR1's has been a part of most of the Corvettes At Carlisle events that I have been to. We, The Registry, are proficient at making a good impression on the Corvette Community as a whole. The ZR-1 Net Registry member participation at Carlisle has been #1 or #2 for three years in a row, and we have been recognized with awards to show it.

Events like WAZOO Maintenance Days, FBI Drag racing, the South Texas BBQ, and local cruise-ins are other excellent opportunities for Registry members to show the rest of the Corvette Community what the ZR-1 is about, without any cost or change to the ZR-1 Net Registry.

Personally, it doesn't make a difference to me. I do applaud the directors for thinking about ways to expand the registry. I'm sure they realize that without continuous growth, it is difficult to maintain any organization.

I really do like the fact that this forum is specific to the zr-1. Without it Im not so sure where the Z would be at least for me. Ive been browsing and reading the site for a very long time even before I purchased my zr1.

I know as an 18 year owner of a fully built 93 LT1 car... I cannot stand the c4 forum for letting all iterations of C4s belong in 1 section like C4 tech. Its absurd. so much so that I hardly ever post there or want to read because im just not interested in anything pre-LT1. If you ask me the c6 (I call it a 5.5) deserves its own section as much as a late LT1 car does (different body poanels, all new interior, different motor and transmission etc) vs an 84 crossfire or whatever choking contraption it has that powers it.
