Pete, I use them BMW fluid out here as well. Driven is sub 40 weather with no issues. Any car I service and change the fluid in, get's the BMW fluid and no complaints. |

Re: Anyone else alittle stiff in the morning?
Out of curiosity I parked the car the opposite way, will see if the incline car casing forward in the drive was an issue?

Re: Anyone else alittle stiff in the morning?
Pardon my piping in about the "incline" thing & stiff shifter movement...but isn't that one of the tests that Bill says to use as a marker to start looking into the clutch hydraulic system?
I've been using the BMW stuff for a while and I notice that it seems to take longer than the GM fill to get flowing when it's cold. It seems that the BMW stuff needs some heat to make to the shifter have almost no resistance at all. The GM stuff seems to not have that issue, or at least that's what I've found here in lower NY state. We don't get as cold as Chi-town though. It's hard for me to describe, but with the BMW stuff cold you know you're moving the shifter and with the GM stuff cold you almost can't detect you have arrived at the selected gear till the shifter just has no more travel. Is that what you are talking about Lee? Tom

You are not able to go into gear at all....once it warms up the system is very smooth. I think it may be hyd. system.....will look into it next weekend.

Re: Anyone else alittle stiff in the morning?
Okay, sorry I ran on about it in the wrong direction. Lee, if you can't get into a gear then Bill has another "quickie test" besides the "incline test". He says that before you start up try to grab reverse without clearing it thru any other gear. If it will not go then he says that the clutch hydraulic system needs to be examined.

Re: Anyone else alittle stiff in the morning?
It's not a definitive test by any means. The garage where I rent is level so I park in gear w/o the E-brake or out of gear w/ the E-brake. My quickie test of choice is the "grab reverse test". I think that test is the least accurate, I think??
I would say go over to Bill's site & there are some Q & A's on the hydraulic system along with the quickie tests & what they possibly mean. Or considering the miles just do a R&R on the entire hydraulic system & call it a day. Just be careful with the new parts that you don't get junk stuff. There is an issue I would discuss with Bill to get the straight scoop on those Q/C issues that GM's supplier had awhile back. I don't know if anything was actually done to address the Q/C issues that Bill brought to GM's attention. Tom

Lee, I suggest getting the 91 Slave, a new master and a Clutch line.. my 90 line was rusty and I installed the later line with a new slave and master.. you can get the parts from Rock Auto for a good price (Dorman Cast stuff) Clutch line might be a little tougher to locate..
