I see the usual suspects got the car (Ultima - the car Top Gear wont let around the track) and yes the plenum is on backwards with a plate as jeff pointed out.

The fuel rails are also backwards - someone should have spotted that - Jeff

For its compact size an LS series engine may have made more sense. If going down the modding road then it sure would save a lot of money for any gains made but its been done loads of times over in these cars. The LT5 makes it somewhat unique, looks a whole lot better and I'm sure its the best sounding Ultima on the road The guy did tell me what the car weighed but I dammed if I can find the figures from memory it was about 2/3 of the weight of the Z so certainly not slow

I thought they had, but did not allow it up on the board for some reason or another.

The rails were a bit more obvious, well with the plenum backwards that's the way you have to put the rails.

No doubt the sound is phenomenal with the short exhaust pipes and rev range up to 7.5k, but when you a build a car like this, power to weight ratio is paramount, especially with almost all the weight being over the drive axle in the rear. Using a LS based motor would have shaved off about 100 lbs and also would have lowered the cars center of gravity even more.

I imagine the gearbox is a Porsche box.

Cool project.

LOL. I know!!! ...im speachless. lol. but honestly, i wouldn't have put an LT5 in it but its an interesting thought. wouldn't be surprised though if its the fastest LT5 powered street car.

I think I remember now, Top Gear hasn't put the Ultima around the track but Ultima did themselves. Something to do with all cars TopGear put round have to be able to go over speed humps without problems.

There was a Lotus Elise kicking around with a Flat plane crank LT5 in it (part of their Le Mans development however I believe the rules changed and the factory didn't continue the project. Although the LT5 Lotus did race in a privet team without much success) however the owner didn't realise what it was and put a stock engine back in and sold the LT5 to Jeal for peanuts. Think I've got some pics somewhere, I'll see if I can find them. If I remember right it hung in the chassis.
