When he says a blank works he means the blank key will fit, just has to be cut correctly

OK, so if understand correctly, all valet keys are the same, cut to code 91C9. I called my local GM Dealer who informed me I need proof of ownership to get this key cut . Still in process of seeing if this is a car I want to purchase..it's a repo, missing various things as you see and hasn't been registered in 5 years with some Title hopping thrown in for good measure. If valet key is in fact "universal" (talking '90 ZR1), would a lister be able to supply me one cut from his key or as a loaner if he has a spare, at my expense obviously ? Or does one of the Vendors here handle this also ? If interested in car description, it's a dark red/tan interior wirh 52K miles, some tears to vinyl portion of driver's seat, otherwise nice interior shape, exc. exterior, old Sumituomo rubber, dead radio but seat belt warning light stays lite when latched so wonder if bad ground somewhere, that "Reset Inf" light which from your site suggests the airbag sensors corroded, unable to see if secondaries work (as above), puff of white smoke on acceleration when cold, all other accessories (A/C, lumbars, etc.)seem to work. I believe the vacuum pump is not powering up so some work maybe even with valet key. $15.5K down from $16.5 thus far with present Owner (retired used car dealer) spewing forth with incorrect facts about the car..."only made MY90-91...solid lifters...made in Bowling Green...no wobble at 80 mph {shimmy at 35 mph}...". Wish I had the chance to drive one of these things when 100% so I would know what I was getting into . Thanks to those helping with answers from a neophyte, at least to Corvettes. |

Another maybe conversational approach might be using a Lumina - Grand Prix blank and "plastic-dipping" it in black. You won't confuse with the door blank because of it's unusual shape. The Lumina/Grand Prix blank is a GM # 12390306 for a D - groove for the 1990 This style blank could also be used for a '91MY+ GM # 12506490 for an H groove but cut to "73L0" Image is of an H keyway but the part#'s I've posted are correct. The dealer should. I must tell you from the shape the car is in, it's not likely the secondaries will work. If the car has been sitting a lot that is "car abuse". There are a few approaches to this. There is the "ash tray is full" approach that says "ah just throw out the ash tray" or you can fix it. (empty the ash tray) There are several systems on the car that fit this scenario.
