Cool... mine is Red/Black too. If Austin Corvette can't help you. Call Steve at Crossed Flags. He knows his way around an LT5.
Good luck!
Hans

While failure of the DIS or ECM units is certainly a possibility, the higher likelihood is an issue with a connector. That possibility should be eliminated before replacing these expensive and hard to get parts. Following the diagnostic procedures in the FSM is key here.

Do yourself a favor and call Steve...

Keep in mind you can't just go to the dealer or parts store buy an ECM or DIS unit, plug it in and see if it solves the problem. Then, if it doesn't, return it an get your money back. Throwing parts at it to see what solves the problem can get expensive real fast! Each of those units will cost a minimum of $1000, if you can find one. The ECM can be rebuilt. Haibeck (www.ZR1Specialist.com) provides that service. The shop needs to do proper diagnostics, not just random parts replacement.

These cars with first generation computer system (OBD1) diagnostic codes will only point you in the general direction of the problem. They don't PinPoint the exact component that is failing. That's why the FSM diagnostic trees need to be followed to narrow it down.

Keep us posted on how this goes.

ECM is $87.00 at Autozone and cheaper on Rockauto. Hope their pricing is correct.

You need a Tech 1 to diagnose.. there can and likely are more common failures that can cause your issue. Attached is the best I can do remotely. These are NOT common to L98/LT-1 platforms. They are unique to the LT-5.

Lou is absolutely correct. The LT-5 ECM and DIS are not available in the open market. You are very likely looking at an LT-1/4 remanufactured unit. Won't work.
