You are very lucky man. I screwed up once on my Triumph TR4 in college. It took out part of the rear fender, 3 inch drop to the roadway was frightening at speed and of course the 180 degree spin was a nice touch to my date... Thankfully, we had quite a few that evening (legal back then), so we laughed it off.

WOW!!
Glad you caught it in time.
Every time I have wheels off of anything, when I re-install I go around TWICE with a torque wrench. Just to make sure after the first drive I check them again with the torque wrench.
I know some poo-poo the torque wrench. I learned my lesson on a '69 Mach 1. Lost a tire because I thought I knew when the lug nuts were tight enough.
Also, not a bad idea to get the wrench calibrated occasionally.

You are so lucky, if that wheel had let go it would have done a LOT of damage, plus the wreck....

Took the wheel off and turned by hand...no noise. So, I guess the sound was due to the loose wheel?

I'm feeling very lucky! I guess when I swapped the wheels last time I must have missed tightening these lugs down (I was in a bit of a hurry). Oh man.

Thanks all for the feeback

John

wow to me it sounded like the rear axle hub was bad. Bolt it up and let us know
