This VW was in some way a purpose built car, but also a prototype.
If it would have failed, the Germans would have say that it just was a test!
Typical for them, remember the same people are responsible for the diesel
affair.
On the other hand: when Tommy and his crew did the records with the
ZR-1 the new cars were in the showrooms of the GM dealers.
What would have happened to our ZR-1 if the car, running on the
Fort Stockton circuit, would have failed?.......................................
