Goldcylon are the oil pressure sensors the same on your 90 and 91?
I'm wondering if a previous owner may have replaced it with something other then stock.

I believe so the "real issue" the replacements used over the years as there are multiple oil sensors that will fit but have different body heights. As such I have 2 sockets for both contingencies. Both I picked up at Oreilly's

Here is why there are different sensor body heights

The GM Part # is:12555492

NIEHOFF OP24471

DURALAST PS206

VALUCRAFT OP8165

Tom, so far everything is going as KPW explained. I only had to loosen the tensioner though to get the lower driver side alternator bracket bolt. It's really a tight space. Used a magnet to keep from dropping the 10mm bolt on the rear bracket.Until I get the oil pressure sending socket I won't be able to wiggle the alternator out and disconnect the power cable.

Goldcylon unfortunatly ALL my local auto parts stores only had the shorter sockets.Spent 2 hours going to them.
I will have both sockets in a few days though.

Gary,

The replacement from Autozone is scheduled to be delivered tomorrow. Decided to do more things in the meantime.
Replacing headlamps, cleaning the wheel well covers, etc., etc.
Also received replacement brushes for the original alternator. I may just rebuild the original, and put that unit back in.....

Glad the socket came, I know you'll be glad to finish that job....

Tom, Is it only me or does everyone have these problems. The socket didn't fit. I then was able to force an adjustable under the water hose and turn it enough to get another bite. I was feeling desperate and if something else broke or was damaged so be it. Well I got it out. Then I checked the socket to the bottom of the sensor and guess what it would not fit the 1-3/16 base period. It was deep enough.I got another 1-3/16 socket and it fit fine.Go figure the new socket I waited to come from california on horse back was out of tolerance so far it wouldn't work.
