Hi Jeff. My advice is to take Lesley on the test drive. The GS is an extremely impressive car and represents exceptional value; she would be impressed. The sales pitch is easier too if one is willing to pass on the ZR-1 to another good home with the new purchase, but "separation anxiety can lead to significant psychological health expenses" and our spouses wouldn't want that - right? Good luck, and keep us posted when you make the move.

Dean - great choice. Rare and beautiful; congratulations!

Bob

I guess after 26 years with the ZR-1 I also bought a new car / toy, but not anything from G.M.
not a fast, but you don't see many of them.

A beauty--a friend has a convertible and loves it. I agree that Long Beach Red is a great color, a lot like the '93 Ruby Anniversary color. But for 2017 the new Corvettes will have Black Rose Metallic again and it looks stunning on the ones I have seen. Might have gone that way had it been available in 2016.--Bob

Awesome cars Bob . Congrats . Nice that there is no tupperware under the hood of the newer vet . You can proudly open both hoods in public ...

Is that the F Type Jag ! Nice. I just got to take one on a slalom track this last weekend and was quite surprised . Jaguar were doing a sales pitch at Watkins Glen this weekend and it was a free test ride to beat the crap out of a jag for few seconds . It was an amazing car . Had a hoot but the best part was my co driver who explained the workings of the car and turned off the all the aids in the car . It was Roberto Guerrero . OMG I was amazed to be able to drive with and for such a talented driver . Super nice guy and a super fun car . Congrats to you also Nelson ...

Looks like a great experience, Mike, especially to have Roberto Guerrero as a co-pilot! I recall Roberto from his CART days - nice guy and great driver that probably would have been picked up by one of the big team if open-wheel racing had not fallen victim to TG and a few more selfish personalities in the '90s. I agree re the F-type; fantastic looking car and seemingly a great performer. BTW, I envy all the track seat time you've gotten this year - you set a high standard.

It is the F Type, but like the Corvettes their are now Four of them to pick from.....the base is called the F-Type with 340 HP, the F-Type S with 380 HP, the F-Type R with 550 HP (that is what I have) and new for 17 is the F-Type SOV with 575 HP. They run from $63K to $150K. The only way to know which one you are looking at is from the rear and look on the right side of the bumper and like our ZR-1 label, it will be blank, or have a S or it will say R AWD, or for the big dog, SOV AWD.

I wanted to get it to Road America still this year, but reading the book Jag wants 2,000 miles on it at less than 5,000 RPM and 5,000 miles until you do any track event! I have now had it for 4 weeks and only have 920 miles! still have not been above 4500 RPM and only once.

If you look at the photo from the front of the Jag, way back in the garage is the 90 ZR-1 that I need to take time and get it out before the snow starts!

Mike, do you know what F-Type you drove?

Oh I sure do ! The monster (550hp) ooops . Correction . It was the 575hp car .... Your in for a super treat when it is broke in and you hammer it . Amazing handling also as I threw it around like a little Honda Civic . Very controllable vehicle . Super nice sound also . Is that thing a 4 cam like the Z ? I forgot to open the hood . Doh !
Mike

It is dual overhead cam, 4 valves per cly.

it is good you did not open the hood, all you see is a big black cover over the top of the motor, five other covers over small items.
the day I picked it up I open the hood, found the fill for the water, fill for the break fluid, and oil......oil.....where is the oil dip stick........oil...oil....dealer comes out in the lot and asked what am I looking for, I tell him I am looking for the oil dip stick......he said...O....
it does not have one, get in the car and I will show you how to call up the oil on the computer read out. up comes a bar graft with level.

first car I have ever owned that has no dip stick! I like to pull them, see the oil, feel the oil, see if it is full, on and on......but not any more!
