Ami calls them "victims", and would hammer the Turq Monster just like that, given the chance! |

Heres an old video my friend made with his android phone .. you can hear the sound while decelerating.. no popping at all
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gSfP1PJI304 And heres a short clip from the other day of the snap crackle and pop.. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=M8AnmlUNxNU |

The snap, crackle, pop comes from excess fuel being mixed w fresh air sucked into the exhaust due to the high vacuum created on decel. Ever see any ricer with a "fart can" that isn't completely BLAAAAACCCK from the soot of too rich a mixture?

My tips don't blacken much at all but from what I know and can google.. that's the cause as you mentioned. Theres a dramatic difference from the first video though.. none at all.. and just excessive in the re-tune after the top end porting/secondary elimination

Eliminating secondaries really doesn't have anything to do with it. On decel, the throttle is closed and secondary injectors are shut off. What happens is that with the changes, the fuel map needs to be modified. I have no secondaries, ported heads, more aggressive cams, headers blah blah blah. No gurgling.

If all you have is "popping" on decel, then it's probably not an issue with Marc forgetting to enable that feature. Mine was BACKFIRING!!!! I mean, pretty much every time I depressed the clutch pedal (even on slow 1-2 upshifts) the car sounded like it was going to explode. Popping on decel is just your low-restriction exhaust...my stock Stingray even does that when I have the valves open.

I hear you but play the first video I linked when I posted 2 just above.. That was with the same exhaust setup. Absolutely ZERO popping at any speed. The only changes since have been ported top end and secondary system eliminated. That's all. And now there is a lot of snap crackle and pop all the time. The only other thing that was changed was the chip was revised for secondary elimination and porting.

My Z is a mixed bag. It is fully ported, etc (see signature at bottom) and on hilly terrain (e.g., "the Dragon's Tail") on some decel stretches I'd get popping, etc. But, on others It would stall out until I blipped the throttle and it would "be nice" for a while. Probably needs to have hands "laid" on (the chip) at some point. Runs like a scalded dog, otherwise!
