Default Re: Two Questions that need your thoughts!!!

Update, took the window switch out as you can see below in the second pic. sprayed with metal cleaner on the contacts, but no luck.

In the first pic is the electrical connector for the switches, can I use a paper clip or jumper wire to get power to the windows in place of using the switches? So I can tell if it is the switch or the motor? I just want to get the window up so I can use the Z.....
Ordered parts, one will be here Monday, the other to follow soon after.

And thanks for all of the replies, appreciated......

Ted, tried your method as soon as I got home, nothing!!! At least I'll have both parts here just in case.....I tried taking the switch apart more, but it appears that these switches weren't made to be repaired, just replaced....

Use your battery charger on 12v 2amps to test the motor.

With the switch assembled, turn it upside down and I believe you'll see 2 - 4 vents on the back-side in the vicinity of the rocker aspect. Flood the back-side through the vents with contact cleaner and exercise the buttons. 90% of the time it will resume operation if there's NOT a motor problem. Flooding and exercising all of the window switches keeps them in pretty good shape.

Did this a number of times, my switch must be in that 10% of ones that won't work......PS on the panel still operates......parts on order and expecting delivery today and tomorrow.....
Another question??????
Is there any way possible to raise the window manually other than using the motor to do it???

Yes Ted, to your above question...
And i am hoping that it is the switch as the motor replacement looks like a real PIA. ..

Default latest update......

Reproduction switch came in today, needless to say, it did not solve my problem. DS switch does not work, PS switch does work. So at least I know the new switch is good..... And the new repro looks good....
So it comes down to the motor and or regulator, I also received a motor yesterday, so I hope to replace it this weekend, but only after I get the 82 back together.....
At least I will be busy........

Default today's lates update....

I feel like Tom's Garage with both the 82 & 94 getting repaired....
Of course snags around every corner.........
On the 94 door panel is off, metal plate with door lock actuator attached, removed....inside of door looks great as you will notice with the pics enclosed.....LS door guide looks good, nothing like when I replaced the one on the RS, so I will leave that alone. Probably will change out the PDL actuator, simply because I am in there and have heard some type of buzzing from time to time, especially when I close the door.
Ok, so I'm all excited, since I ran into a major snag with the 82 LS TA, but that's another story. So I get my replacement PW motor and am going to try to test the new motor...Well guess what, comes with 3, yes 3 adapters and not one fits the plug for the wiring harness. I am not going to cut and make one that works, I just want the correct adapter (pigtail) that fits....
So if anyone knows of a certain brand motor that comes with the correct plug-in, kindly let me know, so I can purchase that brand and send this one back. Also been trying to find the harness clips that go through the water barrier and into the metal plate, I did not break any, but would like to get some spares, so if you know where to purchase, it would be appreciated.
At least this week the weather will be nice enough to drive with the window down, and cover the Z at work.....as they say sh** happens.......

That looks familiar. Sounds like you found the problem with a bad window motor. I had exactly the same issue last year and after testing the switch (it was fine), it was clear the motor was bad. Once I got the door apart it was easy to see why - the casing was slightly open and water had gotten inside. I sourced a complete window regulator assembly from a parted out car and just replaced the whole thing, much easier than replacing the motor. I think I still have the old one in the garage, intended to rebuild the old motor but I haven't gotten around to it.
