Re: Exhaust Install Question
Is the center muffler supposed to be touching the diff?

Re: Exhaust Install Question
This is a common problem. For me it has always been the driver side pipe hitting. Marc H says just get a breaker bar or a large strong screwdriver and place it between the pipe and the diff and lever it down. He said it takes a lot of force but will get the pipe to bend. I did this but also took a small square of silicone hose material (about 2" x 2") and put it between the pipe and the diff, held in place with some hose clamps. Seems to work fine. Did it on both my old Corsa and on the stock system with cutouts. --Bob

Re: Exhaust Install Question
What Warp Ten said. I had the same issue and just adjusted it with a large tool too. Looks good. How did the old flange come off?

Re: Exhaust Install Question
Yep, driver side. I got the flange off with the cut off saw. I'll post pics later.

Re: Exhaust Install Question
The exhaust is louder than I thought it would be at idle, which is great. But it isn't as loud as I thought it would be at WOT. Maybe it's because i'm in the car and not behind it to hear just how loud it is. Overall i'm very happy and it's leaps and bounds better than stock and well worth the money. I would say that when I buy a C5 Z06 some day i'll probably go with the Corsa Xtremes, but i'll see how I feel after living with the Sports for some time.

Re: Exhaust Install Question
There is no need to bend anything at all.
Just loosen up all the fasteners, place a 2x4 between the diff and the pipes then tighten back up. Lastly when you're fine on the pipe to diff clearance, set the muffles straight and tighten fasteners then set the tail pipes where you want them.

Absorbing vibration - acoustic, mechanical, etc., goes a LONG way. Even if only in the exhaust lines. Take a ride on Germans' HSR train. Those rubber-inset wheels make you think you're puttin' along @ 70, when the whole train is zippin' along @ 190 !!! Go rubber, or vulcanized Silicone bushing.

Re: Exhaust Install Question
I like it.....sounds like a mean 4cam motor.
If I want old school muscle, I would climb in the 65 L78 or the 69 Z28 and row through the gears. |
