Opinions on hoodscoop

c4's have a reputation for being rat traps, I think the FB makes them look cheaper then they are. but that's my opinion

The scoop I could probably handle - but not the flat black. Once again - my opinion - but I hate flat black, primer look, rat rods, and oversize wheels. Not a fan of black wheels either. Mine are "black chrome", they were on the car when I got it, but if I had my choice they would be CHROME. I like shine and brightness...

My favorite two Corvette hood scoops are the stinger (the one you've pictured) and the L88.
Either would compliment a C4 nicely in my humble opinion.
Can't say I'm a big fan of the flat black, but it's your car and you can have it any way you like.
I'd be proud to have you park your Z next to mine in any car show.

I have seen pictures of a few with the L88 grafted to a C4 hood.. They look good

The scoop should look ok. It does look menacing. As long as it runs and represents well, do whatever you want. I know if I saw a car like that with zr1 badges and it sounded mean, I wouldnt mess with it. Good Luck.

Please don`t do it. Your Z looks 110% better as is. Spend the $$$ on a roof for that beauty to reside under.

Everyone has different taste, for color, wheels, mods, etc. And they're all valid, but if you want to look at it from strictly a functional approach, note that the primary reasons for any hood scoop are:

1. Aid in cold air delivery to the engine.

This scoop is ill suited for that because the LT5 breathes from an area forward of where that scoop draws air. So, it's not well suited.

2. Where your LT5 is really cramped is just forward of where that scoop starts, so it won't give you any more room above the critical throttle body area.

So strictly from a functional standpoint, it's not going to help you.

I follow the old design principle, "form follows function". This form does not follow function. To me it's strictly decoration.

From a decorative, style approach it is an old design. Beautiful on a mid-year, but on a C4, not so much.

Just my opinion, and like buttholes, everyone's got one.

The color? Great for a midnight street racer, if that's what you're building. but in the light of day? Not so attractive. JMHO.

Yep. Pretty well sum it up 4 me 2. Plus, that stinger hood has been used on just about every GM muscle car or pickup truck...since its inception. Sorta tired, methinks.

Ask and ye shall receive! You certainly got some opinions, although I don't know how much they help your decision process. As all have said, it is your car and you should do what you like. It is not going to be a Bloomington Gold car, so enjoy it. As far as hood scoops go, I have to say my favorite of all time is the 67 big block hood like the one shown. I don't think I would put it on my Z, but that is me. And my only concern about the flat paint is how difficult is it to keep in good shape? BMW recently has offered what they call "Frozen" paints that are flat and there are many warnings about care. And I also second the thought of coming to Bowling Green in May. A good time to meet folks and see other cars. --Bob
