Re: Help me piece together my Tech 1a please ... pics of what I currently have inside
How many pins are on the scanner 15 or 25 on the end opposite the cartridge, not the side!
I have a Tech1 but NO Tech1a to look at. I have the same cable that you have as well as another and both are correct for my Tech1. If your Tech1a has a 25 pin connector (on the end) I believe you need a correct cable. There's several with Tech1a's and I would think they could confirm from the cable which one you need. I've never been aware of a 15/25 adapter to take one to the other. I have seen 15/25 but I didn't think to be used for either the MasterTech or the Tech1/1a My TA00011A cable has a 15 pin on it to the scanner. The other cable I have on my other Tech1 is a TA01139B, it does NOT have the "power out" option. Last edited by WVZR-1; 11-29-2013 at 06:46 PM. |

Re: Help me piece together my Tech 1a please ... pics of what I currently have inside
Here is the top of the handheld.
I think its 26 female pins. Then there is a phone plug with a single female plug below it (power?) on the left side , and a phone plug on the right side. It takes a master cartridge or an auxillary cartridge. Here is a pic of the top, above the screen: This unit originally came with a MARINE cord and cartridge ... I wonder if it was custom swapped out with a different piece up top to connect the cord to? Thanks for pointing out I have a Tech 1 power/data cord ... I didn't even realize it was different than a tech 1a , that helps me a lot ! ---

If you have the RJ45 jack on the side, you may have an early Tech1A- just it was still labelled as a tech1 until they marketed it as an upgrade with more testing capability. That is how mine was. After factory refurb, I got the tech1a label and a new keypad label as part of the refurb.
The jack plug is for the voltage probe feature to inject certain test voltages into various circuits according to factory procedures that may call for it. |

Re: Help me piece together my Tech 1a please ... pics of what I currently have inside
Someone just needs to remove the cable from their Tech1a and confirm the "pin-out" and the part # that is on the cable, either molded in or on a label. All of my Tech1 cables are 15 and to be perfectly honest I've never removed the cable on a 1a that I've used.
GC - I believe has a 1a and Mike100 should be able to confirm what's on his. He mentions his is a 1a. |

I believe you need likely these 2 part #'s mentioned in this post - the thread goes on to discuss ABS that you're presently not interested in so I just used the single post.
http://zr1.net/forum/showpost.php?p=181330&postcount=1 Where is the "marine cord" that you mentioned? I believe that's what you're needing likely. |

Re: Help me piece together my Tech 1a please ... pics of what I currently have inside
OK, I already had the TA01140 adapter.
I just found and purchased the DC Lighter Plug Power Cord, and Bosch ABS Adapter TA00022 from Ebay ( to have for later ) ... now I need to find the DLC cord and I think I will be in business. I think the Bosch number for the cable is #02001637 for the 14/26 pin cable. I am going to call and see if I can get one from them directly, new. THANKS!!! I am feeling a little better already ---
