I swear, we are our own" worst enemy" just to let everyone know, .....potential zr1 buyers read our fourms.

I recently saw some "art" in Italy which is valued in the tens of millions.
Would I pay that? nadda
Yes the ZR-1 is not art but.....
point is.
Things are worth what is perceived to be the value.
That becomes "what they are worth".
Has a car that is 20 something years old ever sold for
$60k when it was $100k new?
Sure.
Is it out of the realm of possibility for a polo-green 20 yr old
car to sell for about $60. No.
More power to him (hands waving with magic wand)

These types of sales are an anomaly. Way outside the mean.

I think in 5 years things will be very different in a good way for these cars, they are a few years away from poping. I just sold my 1985 honda atc 350x which i paid 2100 for in 85 ,for 3500. Last year i sold my 86 hutch trick star pedal freestyle bike ,which was 400 back in 86 , for 1,400. So i think in 2018, they might peak. Look at all the 1970 to 1975 porsche 911 for sale latley, they are bringing 40 to 75k when 5 years ago you could have bought a nice one for 9k.

Lucky, my Z-Brother, Lou from CT, said the same thing with respect to "our own worst enemy" thought. Sometimes I wonder myself as to the validity of that statement? Perhaps it is just perception, and waiting to be "discovered" on the part of our cars?

Personally, I see it from the mechanical perspective; no easily obtainable motor parts. Does the average buyer look at an LT5 and sees no parts available? I doubt that a collector looks at it that way as they don't intend to pile up miles? Then I give up thinking about it as I can't come up with an answer that makes sense.

I'm not qualified to be a collector though. I bought my Z because I can only afford used corvettes. I'd love a new C7 btw or even a C6 ZO6 while I'm dreaming. My Z was the most corvette I could get in '04 for what I had to spend....at least in my mind. I never actually thought about what the car could be worth as a rare or unique example of corvette production. I knew it was unique though. Heck it still is! Thanks GM.

JMHO. If you gave me a choice of driving any distance, say above 4 or 5 hours, in my 72 LT-1 or my ZR-1.....well there is no choice in my mind, I'll take the Z! My LT-1 ( 72 w/ AC ) could be worth more than twice what my Z might be worth right now? The Z is a better car hands down. I don't mean better sports/GT car either, I mean a better car to use over lots of miles.
