I'll definitly have to look into that then. I had a buyer lined up, but it fell thru because of the shipping issue. Got tired of lugging the stupid top around to be told I couldn't ship and insure it.

If you want to ship it YOU CAN. I ship fragile items by LTL carrier. You would ship it the same as a windhsield. Insurance is not an issue. You can insure it for whatever value you wish.

If you pack it correctly, it won't get damaged. I would NEVER ship a top in a cardboard box, no matter how sturdy it is. Just my preference.

The top would need to be shipped inside a "wooden crate". Easy enough to make. Bubble wrap the top very well inside the crate and brace it so it cannot move around during shipment. Take good pictures of how it is packed and insure it accordingly through the carrier.

I recieve windshields fairly regularly...and they ship in a cadrboard box, inside a bigger cardboard box, stapled to a pallet.

Not a big deal at all.

I know this because I have an extra top and looked into it already. If someone buys it, it will have to be local.
Joe, tell me you have a top in good condition for a local WAZOO member..

I guess if I get motivated enough, I would do that. It's nice to know though. I was looking for somewhere to drop it off and have them do it and not be hassled with it. Looks like your method may be the only way to do it.

I thought you had a red top already Charlie? The top is in good condition, it has a couple of light scratches on top (barely noticeable) and the headliner sags (very noticeable, lol). It's missing a head bump pad, but I recently purchased used ones to fix it. Here's a couple of pics

My red top is missing, sold by the PO. Are you going to the drag strip Saturday with WAZOO? I will be there.

I have never ever had a issue with fed ex or ups taking my insurance money, but when it comes to a claim they blow you off.

If you built a good wooden crate it could be done for less than most of the cardboard boxes these places sell.

Crate it and ship it.

I also have a hard top but it needs work and its Dark red metallic.

No, I've got a track meet and softball game for the kids today. It's that time of the year when my Sat.'s are pretty busy w/ kids activities. I would like to make it to another WMD if the schedule allows it. I'm fairly certain I'm going to Carlisle though.

I plan on both BG and Carlisle for sure.
