Temperature setting has nothing to do with the operation, it will only allow the AC to run longer to the get to the target set point.
It is not like you are controlling an outside damper threw a analog signal which will proportion the amount of outside air that is being entered into the cockpit. Jeff, the airflow did not go up. the squirrel cage is rated at X CFM without changing the speed of the motor or the pitch of the blades on the squirrel cage the rate of flow will not change. If you go to a larger squirrel cage make sure you dont over amp the motor, and be careful that you dont choke the inlet surrounding area. Just like our engines you can only exhaust what you bring in. |

Robert,
I was thinking more along the lines of a different pitch Cage.. although I was fairly comfortable yesterday with the AC in the car.. If the hatch had the vent out and I had it on recirc it would be interesting to see how well it does. I have one issue where when I come to a stop the car wants to die with AC on. I adjusted the idle adder for AC which helped, but it still drops down and bouces up. Car died once because of that. Once I figure out and fix it, I should be good to go

It has been claimed that "Temperature setting has nothing to do with operaton" If the temp setting just happened to be set to say 80deg or so you will not get the desired lower temp. It's best to be sure. I recommend checking the temp setting for the lowest setting that way there is no confusion about what you're asking the system to do. AND it will do it for a long time. OR lets say the temp setting was at 72 and you are in a garage with no sun load. The AC does it's thing based on sun load worked in. If the car's inside temp is close to the 72 mark the AC will not be as cold even if the outside ambient is 80-90.

Have to agree with Scott here, I know for a FACT that in the auto climate control system, the temperature setting does affect the position of the door which blocks off the heater core. At any setting above 65 (maybe even anything above 60) degrees, there's going to be some degree of opening of that door. Jeff's car has manual A/C. When the temp lever is at anything less than full cold, the door will be at least partially open to allow some air to be warmed by passing over the heater core. |
