Is there any hard data that the Coplan air blaster adds hp? If so what were the gains?

No idea if anybody bothered moving air cleaner units around using valuable dyno time. If it does it wouldnt be much more than 5 to 10 HP in combination with the insert. It just allows air in smoothly vs through the plastic housing and accordian duct. Smoother always tends to be better with air flow so many design studies on that.

I believe it works and it look bad AZZ. Always get compliments on it normally woahh WTF did you get that was a very common question. Mines Pced in a medium dark gray. It looks very good on the car

The accordion definitely is not aero dynamic. But for the most part it essentially gets the same gains that my forced air induction does "which was $550" minus the un aerodynamic accordion.

I completely disagree if you are refering to AO Forced air unit. I have one of those sitting in my garage cabinet. With the exception of the front plate insert that was the best part of the unit. The top of cover on the AO forced air unit was as only as big as the crappy flexable accordian and was pinched off between the back of the plate fillter at an extreme angle to the bottom of the AO unit air input. Poor design with a major choke point.

The coplan however uses the entire open top of the filter must like the K&N open air set up and then adds the smooth interior design to the housing and the accordian duct. Best of both worlds would be to keep the plate insert add the coplan. Also the AO unit is completely made of plastic. These units are stainless steel. Really no comparison IMHO.

My new car has the K&N three inlet system. Like a claw. I don't really like it as much as this aluminum piece. I don't drag race anyway. Just like the way it looks and I'm a fool for good craftsmanship.

Locobob did a test of the standard vs K&N and SLP Claw. Basic conclusion was increase in Mid range power but not enough difference to determine a winner beyond standard dyno variance.

Bottom line your mileage may vary.

I'd like to buy a smooth connection to replace the accordian piece. Mine has the stiffener inside. Mine has the smooth connection but I'd like one in black.

After thoroughly looking at mine I don't see the pinch point you mention. Mine is wide open all the way through and opens up into the filter box. And where it opens up is at least 3.5 to 4" away from the filter. I just don't see a pinch point.

Open air temp sensor.
