Re: Radiator working too well!
I did the same back in 2001 - went to 160* stat and my OEM rad swelled and cracked. My guess is the 160 stat I put in did not have bypass function.

Re: Radiator working too well!
I seem to remember over at CF there were a few threads involving the 180* stant replacements for our cars where there was a rash of wrong stat in the right part number box. I think the last time the wrong stat was for a ford motor. They almost looked exactly the same as our stats save for the by-pass spring if I recall correctly. The number of coils on the spring and it's rate were the issue and I think it didn't have the two notches in the by-pass disc.

Back in early 2000, most of us did not know of ZR1 forum and consequently were not aware of bypass arrangement/ My mechanic fond a 160* stat that fit and I must have reved it high afew times building up pressure in the OEM rad. |

Re: Radiator working too well!
on the free way it stays 180-4 until the temps get over 100 deg then it runs 188-90. i have my fans set to come on at 188 both of them .so even in the hotest of days in traffic she never sees more than 205 ever .

Re: Radiator working too well!
dont know what to say. are you running a 180 stat. if i dont have those 2 holes my car runs 190-194 on the freeway . when i ran the 160 stat my car ran 170-178. too cold for my taste plus i found that the learn control didnt get enabled till 181.
