Re: Speed Channel/The Car Show/ Mojave Mile
I went 155 at Nellis, mildly modded, maybe 325/350 RWHP
410 RWHP, went 166 422 RWHP, went 168 It takes a boatload(MercCruiser) of HP to gain mph above 100/120 mph, fighting the wind |

Re: Speed Channel/The Car Show/ Mojave Mile
Hey, that might have been my car!
I want residuals! BTW, about 400 RWHP. I went faster last time. ~166 with 17 inch rims, not the 18s I have now. OK, so I probably also weigh more now... |

Re: Speed Channel/The Car Show/ Mojave Mile
I thought I saw a ZR-1 in that segment when I was watching the show! HooooRah!
So now let me get this straight? That Porsche is the top of the 911 heap, right? It probably costs over 100K but less than 150k, so if you inflate our cars' price to today's dollars our cars are in the low end of the ball park? That guy said that the Porsche was "like a race car" so I was expecting something superior to a 20 yr old corvette......that thing better handle like it's velcroed to the road or I'd be really pi$$ed off if I spent that much cash and some 20 yr old corvette was eye ball to eye ball with me! sorry for the stupid rant....I just get angry when they pick on a corvette because it's interior is plastic instead of cowhide from Scotland. Tom

I apologize for my out burst. I just get a little twisted when corvettes are compared to those expensive imports and mechanically they more than measure up, but there is always a "but" somewhere that has nothing to do with the car's engineering or lack there of! A buddy of mine is a Porsche Tufosi & he has a small herd of them. His 928S isn't all that much nicer than my 90 on the inside in my opinion. He has some kind of 911 turbo from the late 80's with the big spoiler w/ the built in oil cooler ( kind of smart idea ) and the inside of that car is spartan to be kind...okay maybe it's all leather (?) but it ain't winning no interior design contests either...and the pedals are hinged at the bottom like a VW bug! And it isn't even all that much quicker than my 90 when he's on boost! His 964 All-Rad I'm sure on wet road can out corner me, but in the dry I can chase him around for hours on the back roads and he can't run away and hide and that car was almost 70k new. He has this old 924 Turbo that is just a joke, okay it's old & all but when I had my 72 LT-1 I could just bury him, and even that car didn't handle that much better than my 72. I guess I'm just not that sophisticated in my appreciation of cars. Tom
