Just curious if you had a chance to try the settings we saw on my Raptor (at the FBI GTG)? It would be interesting if you were to set the rpm for say 2000 and then at say 4000 rpm and see where the light comes on compared to your scanner. That might be one way to verify the correct dip-switch pattern.

I'm going to try to find time to fuss with my Raptor today. I'll let ya know what I come up with.

Yeah I did right after pizza night. Light came on even sooner. I think I'll just get out there and try every combination and see which one works.

OK. The correct answer for cylinder select on the Raptor is #4 which is the one Paul showed me on his. I may not have had the dipswitch completely locked in place when I did it the last time.
I set the rpm down at about 2700 so I could blip motor and see if light came on at right rpm. So the dipswitches should be:
1- ON, 2-OFF, 3- OFF which is 4 Pulses/Revolution.

http://www.raptorperformance.com/Tec...S%20_revF_.pdf

This also gave me an opportunity to view tach v shift light differential.
At 2700rpm on shift light, I saw 2500rpm on tach or a 7.4% variance. Assuming the light is more accurate, then at 7000rpm shift light, tach would be reading 6500rpm. On the other hand the Harlan was coming on
at a lower rpm than actually set for, ie thought I was shifting at 7200rpm but actually shifting at 6700.

Dom, was the error a hysteresis (due to normal lagging of an analog meter) nature, or a steady state or percentage error?

I don't think it was due to hysterisis. I kept the rpms steady and light was on at 2700rpm while tach read slightly below 2500.

which cylinder setting did you use on the Harlan Shift light?

I think it should be set for a 4 Cylinder

The instructions don't give an indication of what it should be set for
http://www.harlan-engineering.com/st...structions.pdf
I'm assuming you had it set for 8 because of the distributor. But the inaccuracy of the light was not by a factor of 2. Light indicating 7400 while dyno rpm reading 6800 or so. That's why I thought it was legitimate.
In fact, we bumped the shift light rpm setting to 8000 and it still read below dyno tach.

I had to read it twice... Yes I had it set for 8. would be interesting to set it to 4 and run it WITH the Raptor.. Maybe I will buy it back if it works.. LOL
