Re: F/S SGS Stage III Cams $2000.00
Pete, you are the cam guy, but aren't you going to kill torque and low/mid range performance with a stage III cam set-up and ONLY 350 cubes ? I thought big cams were for strokers.

Well here is my theory and research.. I know a smaller exhaust cam helps for low end power. I will not be installing the Stage III exhaust cams instead i will go with smaller exhaust cams. Another factor is cam timing. I will find out what happens it won't be the first time i take my motor out for trial & error. Worse case i will have to pull the motor back out to put the smaller cams back in or Stage III intakes make more power and stay in. Basicly if i loose 10rwtq at low RPM but gain 20 on the big end they are staying in,right now i make around 340 RWTQ @ 3k rpm if it drops to 330 @ 3k and gains 20 RWHP at 6900rpm i can live with that Pete

Are you going to regrind the exhaust cams or put your current intake cams on the exhaust side?

Pete, i agree, 12 to 15 degree split is about what is called for with our port characteristics. Are all the Stage 3's really 242? I thought some of the LPE stage 3's were 239 duration/.445 lift.
