Attrition. As time passes, Zs are consumed by it - lost to accidents, floods, neglect, hacked to death (i.e., hot-rodders) etc. So, if it was rare to begin with it becomes super rare as more time passes. And, add a new element to the list: taken out of circulation by hoarders and (let's face it...) as owners become OLDER e.g., to supply that "barn find" inventory to be discovered decades from now.

That's why it's up to US to "KEEP THE LEGEND ALIVE"!

Even if prices skyrocket, I’d still keep my Z. I just love to be it’s caretaker and drive it on nice days. It’s just so special to me and so enjoyable to drive. JM2C’s!

Love my steel blue, and yes they seem to be getting rarer. When Dave was restoring mine, he got the interior out of a 40K mile donor steel blue ZR-1. So the reported production numbers (11 in 90 and 46 in 91) is at least one smaller (and probably several more than that). I think mine's the only steel blue I've seen for sale in at least the last 6 months.

As I think all of the ZR-1 colors are nice....There is just something about a bright RED Corvette that moves me.

You are not alone!
Many think the same way, as do I.
Maybe because fire trucks, wagons and tricycles are red?

I too follow pricing trends and advertised 90-95 Zs for sale...Its true, not many so called rare colors available, mostly black and of course red...
Who knows, maybe some owners are holding on to them or they are just gone for one reason or another...

Being a kid of the 90s, I always liked these cars but never started paying attention to the colors until last year when I got my Bright Aqua 93. I needed another car like a hole in my foot, but it wasn't likely I was going to find another like it! I was actually surprised how long it was on the local market.

My first and only Corvette my wife ever liked was Aqua w gray interior. I love that color also. 1992 ZR-1 #474. But Black Rose is a very classic color.
