Default Re: Which one should I take to BG?

I have driven both my '92 and '95 ZR-1 to Bowling Green and absolutely enjoyed the trip. I have driven the C6 Z06 to other events at BG only because they were not C4 specific. I drove my C6 ZR1 to Carlisle last year only because my latest project, '91 ZR-1 had just come out of paint and wasn't ready for the trip.

When driving the older cars, I first prepare them so I am reasonably sure I can make the trip. Two I say a prayer before I leave. Three I let people know my route and travel plans. Four I keep my AAA card with me and Five a credit card so if I break down I can rent a car, get a room and have the car taken some where for safe keeping until other arrangements can be made.

In twelve years of attending The Gathering or Carlisle I have only rented a car once and that was planned because I left my '92 in BG so it could be worked on by the Late Jim Van Dorn.

Safe travels no matter what you choose to do.

Put it this way. You would be taking your car to the one place where you could feel comfortable in it breaking down! Not that you would want to be stranded on the road somewhere, but if you get to BG, you have experienced and helpful hands all around you! At the Gathering in 2010, it was magic as the crew of enthusiasts did a plenum pull in the hotel parking lot at night to change a coil pack.

True! You couldn't be in a better place if something didn't go wrong LOL

I certainly understand your thoughts on a low mileage car. If you weren't planning on keeping this car over the long haul, it doesnt matter too much, does it? And if you are keeping it, well, there is nothing like a little car bonding and some road time with the "legend"!

My thoughts... Take the ZR, take your time, watch and plan around the weather and bring it back it the same condition you currently have it in...which I know is detailed, quartzed and really nice. Allow plenty of room for traffic in front of you and then dont take your time passing to avoid chips.

I cant talk too smart because I deal with the same dilemmas. Whatever you do, have fun!

I know the product and have seen people use it in some of the open road races I have been at. I plan on getting this (Road Warrior).
