Default Re: C-Beam picture included - Does this look like signs of C-Beam movement or normal?

I got the C-beam out, did not want to cooperate but got it. I inspected the holes...forgot to take a picture , will post them tomorrow. Strange, front and rear had one perfect hole but one in front and rear seems slightly oval. There wasn't any adhesive on the C-beam as I expected, cleaned it anyway. C-Beam plates aren't here yet anyway nor are the motor mounts . Gonna media blast the beam tomorrow. I think I am going to risk doing duplicate work and put it all back together with the new motor mounts and C-beam and take it for a test drive (headers only-gonna be loud) and see if it still pops out of third when re-engaging the throttle. It it was driveline movement, it would save me 4K instead sending it to Bill. I have never heard of a bad black tag at 29k miles .

I have a 9000 mile black tag that came out of my '90 with bad synchros in third.
The previous owner loved to practice his speed shifting and was really good with first to second.
Not so good with second to third.

By the time I got the car with 9300 miles on her, third gear was pretty much shot and second gear was going in the same direction.
It would shift ok if you would pretend it was your grandmothers car, but if you wanted to shift it like Speed Racer you were out of luck.

I found a blue label Bill Budreau rebuild, and have never looked back.

Popping out of gear on deceleration in any gear is pretty much a tell tale sign of bad synchros... ...

Ok....consider my optimistic bubble burst , guess trans will go to Bill but I think I must do a test drive after the motor mounts and c beam plates just for peace of mind, 4K is hard to part with with Covid and Christmas

Yeah, and you can mention to him that I have another one for him to look at. Mine sometimes "crunches" going into 5th gear unless it is warmed up and I baby it. I rebuilt a Muncie 22 (aka "Rock Crusher) once. A ZF would be a challenge...especially with shade-tree mechanic's tools! So, I guess I'll let Bill do his magic...again! (different trans this time).

The previous owner of my 90 had a terrible experience with some hack who said he knew the ZF and could rebuild them... $2400. was the cost.... well, in a nut shell, that guy destroyed the transmission pretty much totally... Next step was to send the trans to Bill. $4200. this time plus freight.... Moral of the story.... be sure not to take your transmission to anyone but Bill.... The transmission shifts like a well broken in bolt action rifle if you can relate to that analogy at all...
