Re: WTB 1990 Power Key
No you CAN take the key out when in Valet Mode.. not in Full Power Mode
sounds like the switch was hardwired on if there is no key 1990 did not have the ability to change ECM parameters for the Key always on. My guess is one of the owns made or bought a by-pass kit they use to sell for these cars

Re: WTB 1990 Power Key
Domestic Power, I have a spare 1990 key. It comes with the knock out with stamped code 91C9 and C4 corvette logo on raised silver insert on 1 side. From what I can tell the going rate is from 50 to 75 dollars. PM me if interested.

Re: WTB 1990 Power Key
Rich,
Yes its the same car. She looks alot different than the last time you saw her. Lots of elbow grease. That car has had more rubbing on it in the last 2 months than it had in its 1st 24yrs. Anyway, I think i found a key to buy from Franke. After I get it is there an easy way without driving the car to tell if the switch has been modified ?

Re: WTB 1990 Power Key
You know it's been modified. It's running full power, and the key is off. You won't hit the rev limiter in normal mode. You really don't need the key.

Re: WTB 1990 Power Key
Not sure about 90 but on the 91 up you can still turn it off with the key. They just default to on when started.

Re: WTB 1990 Power Key
90's do as the key tells them. They default to what ever position you leave the key in. The key is not a momentary like the later years.

Re: WTB 1990 Power Key
DP, you can take the switch out and see if someone jumpered the wires in the back. Also, like Jeff says the key will only come out in the normal position on MY 90.

Sorry I misunderstood, thinking this meant the ignition could be turned off leaving the car in full power and then to remove the power key it had to be switched to normal. This leaving the car in its last (ignition on) setting of full power Thanks for the help !

Re: WTB 1990 Power Key
phrogs,
Thanks for the reply, but I bought Frankes key, so I guess since we're done learning just how they do & don't work the mods. could close the thread. Thanks again to all for your input !
