Have you thought about a wrap? It may cost about 2K but it is removable.

If you go that route, make sure to use architectural grade or the best grade of vinyl it will last longer. Getting the exact color might be a challenge.

Re: change color to competition yellow?
Could you wrap it and have the best of both?

OOOoooo this is a great idea. I really like the idea of having what you like but being able to bring it back to factory if required.

Re: change color to competition yellow?
I thought about a wrap but I don't know about 2k for something that looks right. For it to not totally look odd I would have to get jambs done, most prices I have seen for that work nears cost of repaint. Also I looked at the 91 yellow for sale and the airbrush work is not my thing at all so again I would be repainting and trading for a car that might have deeper issues, I've thought about selling mine and buying a higher mile car to paint but other than messing with possible future value I don't see any advantage. I also have posted on other forums and reached out to yellow owners without luck. Patience is the name of the game to get an original I just don't know how much I have and I also love the challenge of a project like this

Re: change color to competition yellow?
Yeah, yellow on a 90 does look great with that belt line, so does quasar and steel blue imo. If there's anything that I've learned about the zr-1 market, patience is the key. You could contact corvette specialists like Roger Judski at Roger's corvette. He could probably help you track down one.

Re: change color to competition yellow?
I think you should paint it.
You've got the base car that you like and have all the problems sorted out. And you'll have brand new paint - with no scratches, chips or dings. This would have been a great choice in the past: Sold for $25K • 1 of 23 made in Yellow • Painted roof and glass roof panels • 4,786 miles https://www.mecum.com/lots/FL0114-17...-corvette-zr1/ |
