Here is the thread for your perusal. http://www.zr1.net/forum/showthread.php?t=27850 xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx x The new autos are often quicker in the 1/4, but the manuals still more power to the ground than the automatics(ie less parasitic power loss) which is why the trap speeds in the 1/4 are usually higher.

The argument is irrelevant [emoji6] Who ever gets to the finish line in 1/4 or road race wins.

Re: Gearbox Shift Times
I've experienced the thump of 60ms (#6 on the list). It is unreal.

Re: Gearbox Shift Times
Shifting gears is part of the deal. I'll take the disadvantage, I like shifting.

Re: Gearbox Shift Times
All so true re the automatics!!! BUT, I still took the manual option on my new Z06, and putting it in "rev match'' mode for downshifting is one of the reasons I will purposefully forget the milk when going to the corner store as an excuse to make the second trip.

Re: Gearbox Shift Times
I've been in a few cars with the flappy paddle gear boxes and they are faster. No doubt.
I'll never choose one though. Rowing your own gears is just flat out more fun and if you do it right, it's a bit of an art. A dying one. I guess better isn't always... better. |

Re: Gearbox Shift Times
I will keep banging gears as long as I'm able. It's part of the fun for me. My daily is a new 8 spd auto with a hemi. It's quick but if I'm driving it for fun I want to shift. And my carb'd Vette is for sale. I'm an EFI guy but I row the gears too.

I always wanted to drive a '67 427 tri power Vette with the 2 speed power glide to see what it was like.
