A valid concern. All I know is it "may" not deploy with the Blinking INFL REST light error. 9 times out of 10 its a corrosion issue where the frame mates with the airbag sensors and is a well known MY90 only issue. A little rust removal and cleaning and a little dielectric grease can resolve the issue. Nobody ever wants to find out

Can you shoot me a copy of that article? I may be battling that demon when my car come back from paint I have done all the sensor cleaning and even replaced the sensor, still no joy. Hope it's not the DERM. Is it something you can get into a PDF and email it?

Will do! Crap I hope not. The MY90 DERM is a one of!!!!! totally different connector round vs. the square plug in the later years.

Wont be until tomorrow. Vday date night after work lol. It in one of the old registry mags and will take me a while to look for it.

I completely disconnect the battery in all Zs if left for over a day.....have done that for a long time with NO issues. Do have fully charged battery at all times by using the Disconnect. Even an overwinter (as long as 5 months) disconnect fires right up in the spring.

About the old airbag, I have concerns about that as well, to the point where was thinking about replacing the steering wheel with one of those cool Momos.

I'll take a copy of that too. I worry more about what happens if air bag deploys after 27 years than not at all. Guess I'll takes my chances.

Mike,

You made the right decision if you felt good about it! We did well with seat belts and no air bags for years. Our Z has shoulder belts as well, so I'd feel quite safe with a new steering g wheel without the airbag. Glad your happy with the fix, that's what counts.
