Re: LT6 / C8 Z06 engine
The more I learn about this engine, the more blown away I become. I can't find a single design where they compromised. This could pass for a full blown race engine, but with a warranty and emissions compliant! Can we get an LT5 to the same performance, HP/Liter or BMEP? Yes, but the expense would be nuts AND the cams would be way too radical to pass any kind of emissions test.
I've read the valves are 42mm inlet/35mm exhaust. Thats a lot of valve area for a 4.100" bore (32.5%), again straight out of modern 4-valve race engines. It make you wonder how one might improve on this beast. The ONLY area I see is bigger more aggressive cams, and run the engine speed higher. At 8400, it is only running to ~4400 ft/min piston speed. Taking that out to 4700 or 4800 ft/min, as long as you keep the efficiency up would be around 9000 rpm! There is enough valve area to keep the gas speeds reasonable. Could give another 50hp at the same 13.07 bar BMEP. That's about it! So much want....

Re: LT6 / C8 Z06 engine
Todd,
Did u catch that they moved the injectors to the exhaust side of the chamber? Giving them more space for bigger valves, which they needed due to the 110%VE they were getting. The science in this motor is simply amazing. What about the windage system in the crankcase? 😵*💫
