Re: Help with exhaust
It's an FBI innovation. mike100 has added his own little spin on it w rpm and manifold pressure control. I'm using a console mounted On/Off switch.

Re: Help with exhaust
I will let Dom explain his set-up but most the guys here have the NPP Valves with slightly different pieces:
One guy has a B&B with a Stainless Works X-pipe and NPP With B&B Mufflers/tips.. Another is B&B 3" pipes, Custom resonator/ X-pipe with Dynomax mufflers with NPP and Z06 tips Now I know most search out the Z06 muffflers and use the tips/valves, but I have seen the valves on eBay for about $100 each I am the black sheep of the FBI group.. motor is still mostly stock and I am using Corsa. I have no drone at all. Now, drone is very subject and depends on the person. Dom's car still has some drone ( to my ears) but not nearly as bad as without the NPP Valves. My ears are quite sensitive (genetics unfortunately) so for me the Corsa fits the bill and I think if you heard Dom's or any of the others here it would help you decide if that is the way you want to go

Edit: as Jeff said, my system is made up of Watson 1 7/8" headers, Stainless Works Xpipe, using 3" SS pipe and dumping into the aforementioned mufflers. I typically ride around w the valves closed. I flip a switch to open them up for performance reasons.

Re: Help with exhaust
My first time around with this modification, I used C6 muffler parts -the entire tip and vacuum actuated exhaust flapper.
If I ever do another one, I would try to get the same type of valve used on newer BMW's. Quite a few models have them now. They are a better valve since they don't rattle. A lot of the used C6 NPP mufflers you find for sale are warranty repaired C6 units that were swapped out at the dealership due to noise (so buyer beware). Also don't forget the entire exhaust systems expands when it gets up to operating temp so make sure to leave room for that. mounting the valve to the side is the safest bet. |

Re: Help with exhaust
In a few weeks I will have a set of B&B Fusion (dual mode) mufflers complete with solenoid valve and key fob wireless remote available for sale. One of the mufflers has an internal rattle that could be fixed by someone with access to a good TIG welder. The other muffler has been cut around the back face in an attempt to find a rattle in it. (And, no, it's not the valves rattling.) The tips are traditional B&B oblong shape but double wall, sharp trailing edge. Everything is polished. Very sharp looking! If someone is interested in either repairing the mufflers or using the tips, valves, wireless set-up, let me know and I'll send pics and a price. Switching to Stainless Works Turbo S-Tube mufflers.
