So there is a filter that goes on the 3rd port. That means there are only 2 vacuum ports or hoses that are used.

I believe the filter goes on the silver nipple. In the picture the switch on the top is the early design,if you look on the switch you can see the small retainer for the flat filter. Can’t answer the questions a punt the port but my guess is one line in,one line out.

Solenoid located on Charcoal Canister (not shown) under Drivers Headlight (90').
Is the later 91+ adaptable to work on a 90 or is the 90 solenoid still available? Was going to replace it for maintenance purposes.

Either will work. Later ones has a round filter earlier ones a flat filter. Put a new one in while you have the plenum off.
ACDelco 214-358 GM Original Equipment EGR Vacuum Regulator Solenoid Valve
$18.36 Prime FREE Delivery
Order it from Amazon.
Originals no longer available. Same valve. Different mount. You can swap out the mounts or cut each off and bolt together. I have done it both ways.

Agree. I ordered about 20 of them a couple of years ago and not a single one passed vacuum test. I disassembled one. If I recall correctly, the plunger seal looked like a piece of cardboard. I was planning to try to cut a piece of soft rubber to replace it.

I installed one 3 years ago for myself and another 6 months ago for another car. Maybe I got lucky?

The SPT system doesn't require 100%, leak free vacuum. It can withstand slow leakdown better if both check valves and the vacuum pump are working properly.

Did you vacuum test the valve prior to installation? The ones I tested weren't a total bust but they weren't serviceable in my opinion.
