Default Re: Call for Papers/articles!

Thanks to everyone for your suggestions and offers to "submit" (so to speak)! Lot of ideas already (please keep um cummun!).

Far as a deadline go, ASAP for articles to be published at the end of this month - lets say please have them to me 3/26 to give y'all a couple weekends chance to get pictures taken, etc and sent to me.

For now, PM me for instructions on sending articles. If that changes, I'll announce it at that time.

As for electronic format, Word or Word Perfect for the text, and jpg formats for photos. PLEASE - NO PDF files, unless that's all you have it in. The articles have to be made to fit the magazine template, and I (for one) cannot massage PDF files - if anyone can.

If you only have hard copy text or photos, PM me and I'll be able to discuss whatever details and questions that come up - off line.

Going forward, since all of the club business is done on volunteer basis and has to be worked in with our "real jobs", I would like to set the formal deadlines up a month prior to the new quarter. Of course the second quarter is already upon us and we'll have to deal with it as best as we can - on an ASAP basis. And, next quarter will be tight to have stuff in by June 1. After that we'll be on schedule - in principal anyway.

It's been a while since I did "production editing", and there are a ton of "mechanics" to become familiar with, but together we'll get through it!

P.

I don't know if what I have may be of interest, but I do have several of the '89' - '90's magazine's that featured the King of The Hill at introduction - the early years. I also have just about every RegistRy newsletter from day one - '98 with a ton of interesting information on the cars and their owners. Being an early member of that "Club", the information that came spilling out to those of us who were original owners was priceless. Perhaps a "Nostalgia" section could could be filled with this old info.

I know that there are guys here that are interested in the value of our cars and how they are trending. I have not seen any sales info put together to actually see what is going on with the values of our cars. So, I thought that if anyone here heard of, or was aware of, a car that sold, they could forward that info on to me and I would create a spreadsheet and keep track of these sales and publish them in the HOB as a regular subject or column. These would be sales only, not listings or wish-for values. The following info would be needed:

1. MY & VIN if known
2. OD reading at time of sale
3. Color combo Ext/Int
4. Options ie: tops/auto ac
5. Mods if any
6. Type of sale: Auction/Dealer/Private party
7. Date of sale
8. Sale price

Other possible info could be condition if known and Country were sale took place if outside U.S.

The idea being to track/chart sales.

This is just an thought that may be interesting for members and add to the HOB.

What do you think?

Great idea...

We could also add a section on the Forum too and track it. (permanent record)

Well, jcruz just sent me 2 sales. Thanks much! The data collection has started. I think this will give everyone a good solid idea of where values stand, and where they are heading.

I'm not much of a web expert, but if a data input template could be created for members to input the data it might help to keep the data organized.

If you have any sales info, please pm me with as much of the above info you have. I am creating an Excel spreadsheet.

Great Idea but how do you track what a vehicle is worth? If I would have known about the TT LPE that sold for 45K at Mecum last year I would have tried to buy it and probably would have paid upwards of 60K, or what about the GS90 that just sold at Barrett Jackson for 55K, Whoever bought the GS90 should be arrested for Grand theft Auto That car has to be worth ever bit of 100k. The Original owners of either car paid in excess of 150K for the car when new so how do you put a price on them? While this is a great idea, the value of any Vehicle is between the Seller and Buyer.

The idea is not to track per-say, what a specific vehicle is worth, but to list sales in an organized manner so sellers and buyers would have a good idea as to what to realistically expect when selling or buying and to watch for trends. This is just an idea from an old retired real estate appraiser, me.
