I couldn’t get it backed out of the garage this morning for a long shot due to several family members parked trucks and a trailer.

Thank you Lou for the pictures. Did you make the splash guards or purchase them. If you purchased them where did you get them.

Also if you know of anyone that has a set of A Mod wheels please send them my way.

Splash guards are made from clear plexiglass sold at Lowe’s or Home Depot. You need to cut with a jigsaw into large triangle. Round off the corners (1/2” diameter)

IMG_3139.JPG

The trick is to align the outer edge to the outer edge of the tire. The top should be about 3” from the black rub strip and extend down about 1 1/2” below the body. Carefully mark the upper hole to to a wheel well screw. Drill your hole. Remove the two lower screws. Double check your alignment and mark holes for the two remaining screws. Drill and install. If it looks OK then duplicate the pattern for the other side.

Using the same process for the fronts, but you only need two screw holes.

If you drive it allot, you might have to change them out once a year to keep the invisible. The stones and road sand will chip them up over time.

For the wheels, they come up for sale every 6 months. FRT-56mm & Rear-36mm offsets!

Eckler’s has #25-115185 reproduction rear A-Molds for $249 each and #25–115029 reproduction fronts (54mm) for $209 each, so you will need a 2mm shim to meet the 56 mm clearance.

Make sure both sets have the same finish and call them to confirm.

I have new Goodyear Eagle F1 GS-D3's on mine. They look great, but for $1,700 for the set, I'm dying to know how long to expect them to last. I'll likely never wear them out before they dry rot, but I am still interested in the typical mileage on these.

I’ve used Goodyear F1 GS/D3’s for many years, but the performance and ride of the Michelin are superior especially in the dry.

Thanks again Lou we have found the Michelins to be far better on our C7s better handling wet or dry and much better wear. So I'm sure there killer on a ZR1 would need to make the plastic guards as they sit just a tad outside the fenders by your pictures. Your car is beautiful.

Thanks again,

Tom

Still looking for a 1990 tire gauge.

Tom, the plexiglass guards have to be parallel to the camber of the wheels to keep the stones and crap off of the lower body panels. You can’t see them when they are clean. I do redo them each year or when they get a little hazy from sand and stone chips.
