Re: mule car
In my personal tracking of our ZR-1s I believe the first 14 '90s were retained by GM. #15 and 16 were "YE8*WD1 -* Engineering Test / Pilot Vehicle". #17 was "ACM - Vehicle Lead Unit". #20 was the first European Export, as was 21, 23-27, 29-31, 44. No information on #77, but #101 went to CPC as a QC car. #133 - 137 were "WD1 -* Pilot Vehicle", and #319 "YE8* -* Engineering Test Vehicle". No doubt this was a CPC vehicle from the title address.
If you look at the photos of #77, it does have a pre-production plenum, #277, which is stamped on the passenger side of the plenum runner base. http://zr1.net/forum/showthread.php?...highlight=0077 I have #247 w/a bunch of other parts: TB/AH/FR. I found them on eBay back in 2003 as some of these pre-production engines were parted out up in Michigan. I purchased these with the intent of preserving my parts and porting them to run on the car (I didn't perceive any significant value of these parts, and they were relatively inexpensive) - I didn't use them as the finish was off from the rest of my battleship grey looking engine. The #247 plenum is now wall-art, has been refinished, but still very usable. After the 2018 Gathering, I asked Greg Van Deventer about the #247 stamp and odd coolant lines - he informed me that these were pre-production parts. (notice the aluminum cooling line coming from the front of the plenum on the driver's side). That said, it would be very interesting to know how pre-production parts made their way onto into a production ZR-1, or even made it out of MerCruiser to the assembly plant. 'WVZR-1' pointed out that someone put phenolic spacers under the plenum and the attaching hardware is not OEM.

Re: mule car
Same here. Of course, my computer skills are limited, to say the least.
