MY 90 Auto was done before I bought It. The PO hated the black rubber body line and wanted to refresh the look on his car. You see folks faces when I tell em its a 90 lol

Having read through this thread a few times I have only one question. Why in the world would one change the look of a '90 to match that of a '91? One can buy a '91 for essentially the same price as a '90 without the need to spend more money. Plus you would get some design/engineering improvements along with it. Just curious... Bob

This was probably popular thing when the cars first came out. I could still see it happen today 90's usually could be bought for less money and some people just like the 91 look better.
