Does anyone know if a 93 antenna will work on a 90? Ive been looking all over and the parts places seem to have applications that fit up to 89... then 93-96... never see anything for 90-92.. What are the differences and can I make one from a 93 work?

The 89 style antenna should work for 1990. The 1993 antenna is different as I think the relay is part of the unit. I know the wiring changed a bit. But everything I have seen for the mast is that it works up to 1992 so, the connectors are more than likely the same. What is wrong with your antenna? Is the motor dead or just a broken mast?

Sounds like a potential $75.00 part that costs $0.70 to make.
This car may become a restoration parts gold mine someday even with the limited production.

Its the mast... Big Dave was selling one and I figured if I could use his, Id just try to do that. His is from his 93 ruby part out.. My thinking was if I have to pull it out, why not replace it with a known good oem part...

I think you could make a hybrid using the 93 mast assembly with the mast tube mounted on the motor assembly and the 1990 motor..

I was just looking at the wiring diagram for my '91. If in fact the difference is as stated that the relay is part of the antenna unit for the later cars, I think it would be pretty simple to make that work in an earlier application in one of two "purely electrical" ways - either by (1) running the relay input wire from the radio directly to the later model antenna, or (2) using a "relay activating another relay" method using only a subset of the wiring. Option (1) above may be facilitated by the component location of the antenna relay in the earlier cars being quite close to the antenna itself.

If someone can post up the antenna wiring diagram for the later model cars I'd be happy to make a comparison and flesh out the details a bit.
