Re: Another one bites the dust...
The gas tank filler lid is missing, and the rear wheels look to be mid-80s base wheels, so I'm going to guess that it may have had a few issues prior to the storm. Still a sad sight.

Re: Another one bites the dust...
Remember guys, this storm was supposed to hit the east coast. People from my town we're headed to Naples/ Marco Island to escape the storm. Then that area got wakked instead. Like me, he was probably left with no time to save the car.
Marco Island is flat, no high ground, no big parking structures, no place to go. I'm still on a mountain in N. Carolina waiting to go back, but I think my car will be ok, in Jupiter sitting high and dry in the garage 15 ft. Above the flood plain. Just the luck of the draw. I hope the owner and his family are ok. Family first [emoji1303] Sent from my iPhone using ZR-1 Net Registry

Re: Another one bites the dust...
Sad to see. Good to verify what VIN this was, as many, many cars from flood areas will resurface (ha ha) cleaned up a little perhaps with washed titles (ha ha again). Happened big time after Katrina. If one is looking at any used cars a few months after these storms are gone, and a car is from a southern state, look up under the dashboard with a flashlight. Hard to clean up there. Also bolts and other metal parts of seat tracks will show surface rust and a generally not cleaned up. --Bob

Re: Another one bites the dust...
It makes you wonder if someone could come up with a de-hydrate process to quickly clean up the thousands of cars damaged in these storms. Replace some electronics, and flush the mechanicals with fresh fluids.
Probably not practical, but it would be great to pick up a low cost, late model utility vehicle dirt cheap?? Our have I just had way too much coffee this morning ?? Sent from my iPhone using ZR-1 Net Registry

Re: Another one bites the dust...
If it's a 95 than can he have classic insurance on it? I believe it has to be 25 years old if I'm not mistaken and I believe you do need a garage...
Most cars that qualify for classic insurance are valued by the owner for more than they could get for a private sale, some a lot more... I know a few people up in the northeast that lost there ride due to Sandy and were paid way more by the insurance company as a total loss than if they were to sell privately... There are 1000's of things to tend too when the $hit hits the fan. A car isn't top on the list.

Re: Another one bites the dust...
I've restored some vehicles that were essentially shells - had to gut them, etc, etc. So, I'd not write it off just yet. Course, if that is salt water (likely briny at least) that would be a concern. But, if that is the extent of the water...most of the electronics are above that level. Hmmmm.....
