Problem with fixing up this car is that with decent models trading hands for 15K-18K, it would be difficult to flip this car and make anything.

A nicer 94 Admiral Blue went for 18.5K a few weeks ago.

I am no expert, but realistically to make this car a nice driver someone is looking at spending 10k+. (I more than know about all the add-on, while you were in there costs) More if there are other issues pre-accident. Then you will have 20k-25k into a car that is possibly carrying a salvage title that you could move for 15k-18K.

Obviously if you are a paint and body man you might have considerably less however the end result is the same.

The car as a whole isn't worth much right now, but the parts are...

Frames are repaired correctly every day. Too bad he wants so much for the car.

Look at it this way. The total bill on getting my 88 put back together in one piece is only $5k.

Putting this white Z back together wouldn't cost any more than my car, IMO.

BTW, I just bought two doors. One could be used in fixinig this car.

Are you saying that if someone buys this car and sends it to you, you could put it back to factory specs with parts, labor, paint, supplies, etc. for 5K or less?

OR...are you saying your labor on your own car is $0.00

Yes, I'm saying that I could do this for less than $5k with my own labor. Now, would I do the job for that little? NO. I'm just saying that it's just not that difficult.

The insurance has paid on this claim, the owner has bought it back and knows its worth more in parts than sold outright. On a bright note, hes a hardcore ZR-1 owner and is in the market for another car.

I'd agree that if a person knew anything about body work and did any of the work himself, he should be able to fix it for under $5000 (side hits are normally easier than front impacts). I'd be more concerned about damage to the dash structure than the door pillar. I'd also agree that it would probably only sell for $15k-$18k (probably on the low side) repaired. On the other hand, even if you part cars out for a living, parting is a long and messy job. The paradox is is, since the value of C4's are dropping, people are not rebuilding cars such as this, (and, they are not driving them much) which lessens the demand for the major parts, which lessens the value of those parts, eventually.
