So odd on the fob, It makes no sense they would make that an option on ZR-1s but you guys must be right. The black/black on BaT only had one as well, it looks like. Learn something new every day! ... looks like two of the three fobs on the CF thread are sold at $325! Mike |

Replacing 1995 Key Fob
Quote:
Ted, Thanks for the info. A friend that owned his 95 ZR-1 since new also confirmed he only received one PKE fob at new delivery. You would think one paying $65-$100K+ for these cars new back then they could throw in an extra key fob. Every car I have every bought came with two. But the General must have figured we don?t want anyone else to be able to drive the car so one is all you need. [emoji38] Aloha, Craig Sent from my iPhone using ZR-1 Net Registry

I am intrigued by your experience with a second fob on your ZR-1. I will add that you are one of the few people I would believe about such things. Having had my own ZR-1 judged multiple times as well as helping others do the same, we have all been through the rigors of what the car comes from the factory with. NCRS manuals stipulate one fob. The owners manual states shipped with one fob. However, it would be conceivable that if there was an RPO for a second fob, AND if someone knew that, and ordered it that way, there could be a car or cars that indeed did come from the factory with more than one fob. If you have the window sticker that shows it as a factory option, please share it with us as that would be a significant discovery. If you have the build sheet, it too would show an RPO for an added fob, which again would be an important discovery. Not trying to prove my NCRS friends wrong, rather would love to see them have access to this information as today, all 93-96 Corvettes are expected to have only the one PKE. The owners manual goes on to state that up to three additional PKE's can be programmed, yet it makes no mention of this as an available option. Thanks for your help! Some view these things as piddly, but to those who chase Top Flights, they are very meaningful little things about the car that they love! Marty |

Re: Replacing 1995 Key Fob
Marty,
My memory was off--$45 option. I have the build sheet too...somewhere. I was amazed at what I sorted through to find this. I may have a problem. Our new house has poor storage & I have things stuffed everywhere. I will hopefully find the build sheet this weekend. Re: Replacing 1995 Key Fob
Stole the OP's thread...sorry.
Interesting find. Early '95 build sheets had item #32 as "Luggage Rack". Later build sheets had #32 "Extra PKE" with "FOB" filled in on the only one I have that came with it. Ted Image1630435731.386087.jpg |

Re: Replacing 1995 Key Fob
Ted,
I appreciate VERY MUCH, you taking the time to furnish both the window sticker and more importantly, the build sheet. I now recall seeing FOB on a build sheet, but don't recall if I had the window sticker for that particular car. I have forwarded a link to this thread to a longtime friend. He also happens to be an NCRS Judge, Master I believe, whose specialty is C-4 Corvettes. One of the many things I still enjoy is learning something new every day. Thank you for your role in my continuing education! I have most all of the dealer training literature for the 1993 model year. Nowhere in that material is mention made of the extra PKE option. Perhaps it is in the 1995 training material. At any rate the dealer who submitted the RPO for your car knew of it and obviously checked the appropriate box. Now I wonder how many are out there...................... Could this be more rare than Double Dunn................. Wonder if you could order a base convertible with both a luggage rack AND and extra PKE? Again Ted, Thank you! Marty |

Re: Replacing 1995 Key Fob
Ted,
One more request if I may. At some point could you get a picture of your Service Parts Identification Label for this car? That would complete all for your car. I understand that the NCRS continues to work on updates to the current 1994 to 1996 Judging Manual. I would imagine that a cars SPID is the what would be available for review if the question came up during judging. There are rules that state how a build sheet must be furnished to a judge if one is proffered as confirmation of a car's part. Had I been more careful in my past review of RPO codes, one in particular would have been noted. https://www.corvetteactioncenter.com...rpo-codes.html Refer to RPO AUO. This stands for "Remote Entry Second Transmitter" It would be interesting to see which RPO, FOB or AUO is on the SPID. Therefore any 93-96 that has either FOB or AUO on the build sheet or AUO on the SPID was equipped from the factory with two PKE's. They say one of the goals of NCRS is to help you learn more about your car. True indeed. However this Forum is another valuable tool as it focuses on the ZR-1. Again Ted, Thanks! Marty |
