Black, when clean, is stunning. However, if there are any imperfections in the body or the paint job, black will scream it out to everybody looking.

I used to have 3/4 mile of crushed limestone (that passes for gravel in IL), and my black LT1 car could never go anywhere without hitting the car wash first, or it would look like some hoopty from a Walmart parking lot!

I'm going to repaint mine, but because of all the nooks and crannies, changing color was going to cost more, and just keeping the bright red (90) was enough (on top of everything else!).

But, if you have a painter at your disposal, go for it. Black is stunning!!

Paint it satin with a GS gloss stripe. Since you have a black already I would be a little different on this one. JMHO
How a about a satin gray with a gloss black GS stripe? again just throwing stuff out there. If I was fortunate enough to have a 2nd Z I would explore all options.

Ricky's got the right idea, do something different.
There are plenty of black Z's around, why do another?
Take advantage of the color change decision to do a unique color that will stand out from all other Z's.

My choice might be a deep, fine, metallic silver that I think should have been offered originally. But find your own color, make a statement instead of following the "stock color" crowd. The car is not going to be an NCRS queen anyway so make it pop.

BTW, That engine pic. is amazing. Beautiful motor. It looks so good that I'm starting to think I might do it to mine

Thanks for the replies folks. I never thought about a color that wasn't offered. That's something I'll look into.

I'm wanting to do away with the stripe, like it on some cars just can't get use to it on mine.

Oh yea, I've hit the rev limiter in both cars many times...answering the other post also.

Admiral Blue always looks good, but that Z needs something special. That's one hard pulling Z you have - we miss seeing it here in South Texas!

Congrats!

I can feel your pain. I am trying to determine what color I am going to paint my Shinoda. With the endless choices of base coats than clear coats with pigment you can create a spectrum of color. While Black is like every deep color that is hard to keep clean it is also one of the best colors for depth when you maintain the shine. If you like black which I am assuming you do Why not go with a HOK black base coat and a wild cherry pearl clear coat. That car will look sick.

Black is fine if you show it and don't drive it. Mine is black an you can see every paritcle of ???? and buff lines are nearly impossible to get rid of, especially in florescent light. I would love any other color.

Vetman, I have a black one too and I had swirl marks until I used a product called Bullet Polish. Swirls and buff lines are gone under any light. I got it at a car show and never heard of it until then. I'm sure there are other polishes that will do the same don't give up.

Thanks, the real reason I don't like the black is because the car is extremely documented and is supposed to be arctic white. However, the paint job is beautiful and I love the smooth flow of the the LT-5 power. I will return it to white someday when I win lotto.
