FWIW, I put a wrap of Teflon plumbers tape on the plug to keep it from seizing.

Marc H does these regularly and might have tips for you if you give him a call. --Bob

Not often, but it was a little peace of mind to drain it and put in new, known fluid.

When I owned my 95, right after I first met Marc H., he told me about drilling the back of the drive axle housing for a drain plug. I think the exact measurements for the positioning of the hole are on his web site.

Never worried about chips because they all came out with the old lube.

In that car, like all my other drive axles, I used Red Line Heavy Shockproof Gear Lubricant.

I'd change it ever 36,000-40,000 miles or every 3-4 years.

Filled it with Amsoil 75W-90 with a little friction modifier. Pretty pleased with the results.

I am changing my fluids in the next few days. Might as well do the diff. drain while I am there.
Does anyone have the exact placement of the plug in the housing? I have the drill & tap so don't really need to order the kit. Also, checked Marc's site, but was unable to find the info if it is there.
Thanks in advance.
