The plates are attached to the cylinder head at the water ports.

Also, the holes in the plates are elongated to allow the 1/2” bolts to rock vertical to connect to the crossbar. The underside of the bolt heads are also rounded a bit to helpout with this. Be sure to run the three 8mm bolts down tight that attach the plates to the cylinder head.

Engine is out, project is moving forward nicely. Here’s the lifting hardware I fabricated to distribute the weight. Worked like a charm. Engine was out in 20min.

I plan to at least check the pin locations. Not sure I’m ready to tackle exact cam timing without adult supervision.
