Re: Secondary fuel pump and chip problem
Thank you again for all of the comprehensive responses you sent me. in the next few days i will be checking the pump amperage and pressures. but as you say. the current problems (code 41, secondary pump not functional) surely come from the installed chip. I emailed Mark asking for some advice on chip selection and his opinion on the situation, hoping to hear from him.
don?t hesitate to give your opinion, any idea can help. |

Re: Secondary fuel pump and chip problem
The "piggybacked" chip is actually the knock sensor circuit. It was moved to the MemCal 91-95. 90 had a separate knock sensor circuit module.
I believe any MemCal code will prohibit full power mode.

Re: Secondary fuel pump and chip problem
hello again, i just tested the amperage of my pumps, this is 8.63A so both pumps are working fine, what I don't understand is that when I remove 1 fuse, or both I still have 8.63A (I can hear the two pumps running) is this normal ?? thank you so much !

Re: Secondary fuel pump and chip problem
The amperage test Paul provided you via the fuel pump test lead bypasses the fuses and relays. It provides voltage directly to the pumps. What you see is correct.
From what I can see, I think a correctly programmed chip, for secondary delete, will solve your problem. I don't think this is a fuel issue. H

Re: Secondary fuel pump and chip problem
hello everyone, i decided to take a look below the plenum and this is what I found. it can be seen that the secondary throttle has been removed, as well as the secondary vacuum reservoir. you can see someone put some kind of paste on one of the ignition module connectors ... I will look at that later, the problem probably isn't there. What do you think ? was the job of removing the secondary butterfly done well? if so, I think it's time to buy the right chip and go have fun with it

Re: Secondary fuel pump and chip problem
Id say the "paste" you see is actually RTV silicone and is there to make sure the connector doesn't fall off due to the broken/missing clip.

Re: Secondary fuel pump and chip problem
Definitely a secondary delete. Looks like new coils and injectors. Even removed the butterfly shafts. The "paste" may very well be adhesive to secure the connector on the DIS. If it doesn't appear to be causing a problem I would leave it. Get a correct chip and drive it.

The plate on top of the MAP sensor says it's 1991 engine #1581, but I agree with the folks here. You gotta get the calibration thing sorted out, first. After you may find the SPTs have been removed or are there but not functional. |
