Not to sound unappreciative, but I did want to point out one error I found in case it hasn't been noticed yet. There are a number of 1990 cars that are listed as Ruby Red. Maybe they were supposed to be Dark Red Metallic instead??

I do not see any 1990 cars listed as Ruby Red. Can you give me the car #'s or more specifics about which list you saw them on.

Jim, search the DB, enter 1990 for year, and ruby red for the color, I get 181 results.

181 cars have these options:

When you search for Dark Red Metallic cars, there are none.

If you click the cars, they genuinely have that RPO.

GM used 68U for Dark Red Metallic in 1990. In 1991, DRM became 75U. They used 68U again in 1993 for Ruby Red. I can update the color description to have both, but that's how GM did it.

Would you want to see two colors listed, one the 1990 DRM, and one Ruby Red? It seems odd to me since it's an RPO search, but if that logically makes sense to people, I could do it.

A HAH, The problem is that GM used the same RPO for different colors in different years, and different RPO's for the same color in different years.

68U was Brilliant Red Metallic in 1990 (marketed as Dark Red Metallic) and in 1993 68U was the code for Ruby Red.

In 1991 to 1995, Brilliant Red Metallic (Dark Red Metallic) was RPO 75U.

Another example is Competition Yellow. In 1990 and 1993-1995, the RPO was 53U. In 1991-1992, the RPO was 35U.

My philosophy with the yellows was to honor GM's RPO organization. So two yellows are listed, yellow and comp yellow. With the exception of the roof panels, everything is that way (1990 roof options are moronic).

I can change the colors to be separate items if that is how it makes sense to others. Personally I prefer the RPO-based approach, but it's no big deal either way.

Also, and I think I speak for Jim as well, I want to say "thanks" for the feedback. There's an awful lot of data surrounding ~7,000 cars, each with about 40 RPOs on average, so it's hard to check everything. Getting feedback is helpful, plus it also means people are using the tools.

Thanks for the clarifications! So if want to buy touch-up paint, and use 68U as the paint code, I may actually be getting the wrong color? That's good to know and means I need to make sure I'm getting 68U for the right year.
