It's a good question, Craig, and the only thing I can come up with is personally, I like this ZR-1 quirk enough that I would rather it look the part for the year on mine. I know most people wouldn't care or know the difference, but if I'm going to spend $1500 on one that isn't 'quite' correct, vs. the supposedly $1000 for one that is correct, I'd rather do the $1000 reproduction. But with no status on these (which is really disappointing six months after the announcement), the $550 normal windshield (including tint) that can be made to look almost perfect with the right cutout added in is probably my preferred choice and certainly a guarantee I would never have the same problem. The seller of the Kurt White believes it is for a '90 - no question, if it had the small cutout, I'd grab it.

Got it and I can understand that. If you are going to spend that money it might as well be year correct. I just do not know if the repro will materialize for those that need it. If I could not get my repro when I did I would have to settle for standard C4 with tint. If I was in a corner I guess I rather have the incorrect cutout than a C4 windshield. It sucks that there are only a few things to separate our cars visually and that windshield is one of them. It would seem you have first dibs on it if so or at least how I see it once the seller gets back with the info. Best wishes.

I believe we will have an update on the correct replacement windshields during Carlisle. My personal feeling is that it will happen, just with supply chain issues taking longer than expected but it will happen. They are too far along and too much time and money invested for the supplier to back out now.

I purchased an original 1990 ZR-1 windshield with zero delam for $2,000 and was happy to get it. It is factory dated such that it works well for two of my cars.
I sold a White repop 1990 windshield to a fellow for, I believe, $1,800 and he was glad to get it.
If the new ones materialize, and they are an exact match, I hope to buy three of them just to have in standby.
Regards,
Mark

Any news from Carlisle on the forthcoming reproductions, by chance?

Thanks!
Mike

Windshield project update as of 10/17/2022 from Pilkington Glass or actually Pilkington Classics. They were the producers of the original windshields for our ZR-1's. We have been working with them for several years now to reproduce a factory replacement windshield for our cars that can be ordered through your local auto glass company. We had several prototypes made and they are actually installed and in use yet today.

We were on track for production until early 2020 when COVID shut down Pilkington. Once they restarted production of any windshields ours was in the queue for late 2021. The windshields run did not pass their quality control and were scraped.

They have been constrained on the film for the ZR-1 windshield and as of this past Monday, they are awaiting to hear when they will receive their order.

I have been kept in the loop on the status, but it is moving very slowly and Pilkington Classics is as frustrated as we are. As I find out more in the coming weeks I will keep you updated here.

Keep the faith...

Thank you for the update, Dennis! I'm keeping my fingers crossed for sure, because this has got to go! <5800 miles, always inside... another angle.

The latest information on the windshields is that the film for the glass is due at the plant in February and they are currently planning a March production run.

I will keep you posted as I learn more.

Hang in there....
