Nice time of year to run across I-40. Does Holbrook still only have one stoplight, lol?

Jim --
Any worries about breaking down in the middle of nowhere? Have AAA? Purchasing a new Z and driving way off the grid, I might be a tad bit concerned .... ![]() |

If we had a complete breakdown we would arrange shipping home, rent a Jeep and keep on road tripping. I do carry enough tools and parts to fix most of the common problems I have seen for our ZR-1's. Jim |

On Saturday we drove from Santa Fe to El Paso. Instead of going south on I-25, we took a New Mexico Scenic Byway called the Turquoise Trail. We stopped in Madrid, NM and visited all of the shops there. Madrid is sort of off the grid and was a charming place.
I am having trouble with my computer connecting to WiFi so I can't post any pictures right now. I am using our backup notebook. We travel prepared. On Sunday, we drove from El Paso to Dallas, about 630 miles. The speed limit on most of I-10 and I-20 is 80 mph - God Bless Texas!! On Monday, it rained. All day it rained. We drove from Dallas to Branson, MO. Did I mention that it rained all day? The good news is that the rain washed all the desert dust of the PurpleZ. More good news, there were no leaks around the windows. The Z handles well in any weather, and cruises like a dream at 89 mph. I will post more pictures when I can connect. Jim |

Here are the pictures from the El Paso to Dallas trip. There was a neat little bar with a train theme next to our hotel:
![]() GOD BLESS TEXAS!!! ![]() In Odessa, TX, we stopped at University of Texas Permian Basin campus where there is a full size replica of Stonehenge in England. Very neat: ![]() ![]() There were a lot of oil wells producing crude in the Midland, TX area: ![]() to be continued.... |

On Monday, we left Dallas and headed for Branson, MO. There were some interchanges in Dallas that are much more impressive than the Mixing Bowl on I-95 south of Washington, DC:
![]() Did I mention that it rained the whole 630 miles from Dallas to Branson? ![]() ![]() The rain lifted a little when we got to Branson. We are checking out Branson to see if it is a place we want to spend some time on a future road trip. We are reserving judgement. It seemed a little "cheesy" to me. Any opinions about Branson? ![]() Jim |
