Re: Generic Prototype Thread
may I ask a Q about translating the Date markings?
The first two digits before the / = the year? The next digits after the / = the day counted from January 1st? Is this Date actually when the car was started, or when the dealer's order was processed by whoever tells the dealer that they may order a ZR-1? I always wondered how that worked. Sorry for all the Q's. Thanks guys! Tom

http://www.fs.fed.us/raws/book/julian.shtml The best way to detemine when you Corvette was produced is to order a Vehicle Invoice. This will show order date, assembly date, ship date and expected arrival date. Those can be ordered here: http://www.gmmediaarchive.com/ Eric

Re: Generic Prototype Thread
Well I have scratched my head trying to determine who all these people are who signed or are mentioned on the early build sheets. It then hit me I have a Bowling Green Assembly Assist Manual from 1984 I picked up many years ago. In it is a phone directory for the plant. So I looked them up. Here's what I found:
From my research, CLJ was in the "Reliability Department" This was not the reliability of the Corvette, but in the reliability of the supply chain. I would assume CLJ was responsible for making sure all of the necessary parts were at Bowling Green to put these ZR-1s together. Sadly CL Johns passed away on June 28th 2008.

Re: Generic Prototype Thread
Interesting, I see Michelle Bowling is married to Mark Bowling... Michelle did not work there in 83/84 according to my phone book.

Re: Generic Prototype Thread
What's funny is The other Brett and I poured over that sheet today in an effort to figure the L98 record cars VIN. I must have looked at that for an hour. Completely missed it! Well Mark Boling did work in AP at BGA in 83/84. The cool part about that page is #19 was later converted to the Challenge "SPlash" car.
