Yup. This is correct. If you want to have your Corvette judged EVERY year you can.

The one award that I am aware of that is a one shot deal is the survivor award at Bloomington (presumably coupled with the Benchmark award).

As for NCRS im pretty sure that the owner at the time who had it judgged can get a replacment cert.. id check on that one, maybe they wont give YOU one but they should give him one...

As I understand the NCRS process the flight award is specific to the car and the owner who presents the car for judging. When the car changes hands the new owner must go through the process again.

If you are interested in seeing what the car scored last time I believe you can purchase the judging sheets from the past judging by contacting Roy Sinor, giving him the VIN and paying the fee.

Thank you for the suggestion to contact Roy Sinor, I just sent him an email. I would gladly pay a fee to get a copy of the documentation.

I would also like to name the dealer that destroyed the paper work. It was Hendrick Cadillac in Cary, NC. They are part of a large chain of Hendrick dealerships. I am still shocked they would destroy this type of documentation.

A few comments about the NCRS and other information about your car:

1. While you can contact Roy about prior judgings, the fee is pretty steep. If I remember correctly, it is about $300. I wouldn't bother with a prior judging. If your car is even reasonably stock, it will get a top flight award. I would just enter it into another event and get a new award if that sort of thing is important - and it would be far cheaper than paying for conformation of the old award - and you'd learn more about your car that way.

2. As for the paperwork, consider that paperwork for Corvettes is mostly important for the older cars (up to about 1972) because it is impossible to tell what the car was meant to be if there is not paperwork and the original engine is missing. That is a problem the ZR-1 will never have given that the VIN carries the engine code.

3. You can get replacement paperwork from the Corvette Museum for all cars produced at Bowling Green.

4. Keep in mind that all an NCRS award really means is that the car passed a specific standard on a specific day - nothing more.

I contacted Hendrick Cadillac again and emailed the manager who spoke with the person who transferred the car to the dealer I purchased it from - Chris Leith Automotive in Wake Forest, NC. They assure me the paperwork was delivered with the car. Contacted Chris Leith again and they are searching for the paperwork a second time.

I also heard back from Roy Sinor who said for a $300 fee they can provide a document showing each time the car was judged and the results. I don't mind donating to a worthwhile cause like the NCRS, but $300 does sound a little steep. I will give the dealership a few days to continue searching before going down that path.
