New toy from Snap On
http://buy1.snapon.com/catalog/item....ce=Blue_Hornet I think I'm going to get one of these. After building this LT5 and working on the Z so much, I can really use one of these.............

Re: New toy from Snap On
I like the zillion teeth, but my Craftsman with the swivel head always seems to be moving when I don't want it to. Sometimes I'd rather just have a solid ratchet.

Re: New toy from Snap On
Good point. I don't have any swivel head type and found some use for it. I like the fine teeth on this one too as I have found a lot of times where in a tight spot the clicks are just to far away. Just a good complimentary tool for those certain ocassions. All I have is a small, standard Craftsman so I can use this one in my tool box.

Re: New toy from Snap On
Wow! And only $118. Knowing Snapon I would have have guessed $350 for it. Back in the early 60's my father was in the Navy stationed in San Diego and was a mechanic on the Phantom 4 fighter jets. He said they used both Craftsman and Snapon tools. Said he broke craftsman tools all of the time but never broke a Snapon tool.

Man them navy boys don't know how to do anything right! My marines broke hundreds of snap on tools at least and average of 2 a day, every broken tool had to have a broken tool report done on it and turned into QA. Oh boy do I miss working on aircraft!

Re: New toy from Snap On
Straight flex head is the way to go. I don't know if you'll like this one as much as you would a flex head...but anything from snap-on is gonna be nice as mentioned.
My Snap-on straight flex head is a staple go to in my shop...saved me thousands more than I paid in time mostly because of access. I would like to try a swivel head, I know it has benefits. I hope Snap-on keeps the quality in their hand tools...seems their selling out a little when you see stuff showing up in Costco's and such. I'm a Snap-on, Matco, Ace Hardware, Kobalt, a little Husky, hardly no craftsman...they are done as far as I'm concerned, completely sold out to the Chinese, not that's a bad thing, it is what it is. I was so proud of Vic Edelbrock this weekend when I saw the new e force supercharger...that blower is built like our LT5's right here in the U.S. like we know how to do it. Awesome thread even if it is in the wrong place Rick |
